Choosing a luxury hotel when traveling to London to attend the 2012 Frieze Art Fair is easier said than done as there are hundreds of options. artBahrain recommends, the new Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon.

Surrounded by the lush greenery of Hyde Park in the heart of Mayfair, guests are met with bold red, black interiors with flashes of gold accented with clean architectural details and polished chrome.  The public spaces are both modern and classic, with some areas inspiring a retro feel reminiscent of the 30s club-like atmosphere.  Attention to detail is evident throughout. The original blend of materials such as leather, marble and crystals are enhanced by the arresting artwork collection of both traditional and modern. On the left side of the lobby, a towering installation made of 110 panels of hand-sculpted plaster bas relief takes over the entire wall of the atrium designed by Rochon and realised by artist M.Letang.

The hotel also introduces a new approach to hotel dining, where guests arriving from different time zones can avail of breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner menus available throughout the day at the Amaranto, lounge, bar and restaurant – a three flow-through space designed to offer three different experiences.

The fully transformed 11-storey building features 193 guest rooms and 46 suites. In colours of champagne, cream and red, the suites are classically inspired with Asian accents evoking the atmosphere of a chic urban apartment. The one- or two-bedroom has a dining area and a fireplace in the living area as well as wide outdoor terrace.

Guest rooms feature lustrous walnut-wood panels and tartan draperies and upholsteries. The easy to organize walk-in closets gives the room residential warmth. The in-room technology includes 42-inch plasma-screen televisions, and both wired and wireless Internet access. The bathroom features a separate rain shower and deep-soaking tub in delicate marble and brushed steel with a generous workspace with multiple country outlets.

The spa, located in the top floor, has stunning 360 degree views of the area and offers a wide range of massages, facials and body treatments, all designed to enhance the guests’ wellbeing.  It also includes a steam room, sauna, arctic showers, hydro-pools, relaxation areas and vitality pools, as well as male and female changing facilities.

And to complement your London experience, the hotel’s Rolls Royce Ghosts is on hand to chauffeur you to the Frieze Art fair at Regent’s park in just 10 minutes.
