Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums Authority, the exhibition Hajj – The Journey through Art is a MIA-curated exhibition, in collaboration with the British Museum, aimed to take visitors on a journey exploring and illuminating the Muslim pilgrimage of Hajj. It presents artworks from MIA and objects from Qatari collections, many of which have never before been displayed in public.
The exhibition examines the history of this pilgrimage through the centuries, focusing on the rituals of Hajj as depicted through art, the routes taken and the experiences of pilgrims upon their return. The exhibition also includes a special section dedicated to the oral histories and objects of pilgrims from Qatar.
