If Walls Could Talk
BFH Fine Art Gallery – Manama, Bahrain
6 December 2012 – 10 January 2013
Under the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Bahrain Financial Harbour (BFH) announces the opening of the exhibition ‘If Walls Could Talk’ at the BFH Fine Art Gallery. This second exhibition held at BFH in support young and upcoming artists will open on December 6th 2012.
The 275 sqm Art Space opens its doors to the public for the opening of ‘If Walls Could Talk’, an exhibition showcasing the work of 11 Bahrain based contemporary artists.
Located at the West Atrium of the Harbor Towers, the Fine Art Gallery provides a unique platform for exhibiting national and international modern and contemporary art. The Gallery aims to encourage local artists, to promote corporate art sponsorship and the development of corporate art collections and to give new collectors the opportunity to purchase original and affordable art.
Commenting on the exhibition, Dr. Omar Al Mardi, Managing Director of BFH said, “We are proud to support upcoming, Bahrain based artists whose insight and experience has resulted in work that deals with issues relevant to today’s world. We understand the necessity in supporting new talent as this will not only facilitate the development of the art scene in Bahrain, but will also help elevate Bahrain onto the international art scene.”
In this exhibition, 11 artists explore the defining characteristics of walls as physical structures or theoretical barriers, resulting in an introspective examination of social and cultural issues. Visitors will have the chance to witness an impressive variety of work.
“We only hope that such thought-provoking and progressive exhibitions will continue into the future and look forward to continued collaborations and workshops with young artists as they are the voice of the future,” Dr. Omar Al Mardi added.
The Gallery is elegantly designed and uniquely positioned whereby the transparent glass windows provide panoramic views of the old city of Manama on one side, as well as magnificent sea views on the other; exemplifying Bahrain’s position as a nation that embraces their cultural history and simultaneously welcomes the progress of the future.
The exhibition will open on 7pm, for all to attend. The exhibition will remain open until January 10th 2013. It will be open to the public Sunday- Thursday, 10am-7pm and Friday and Saturday, 12pm-6pm. For further information, visit: www.ifwallscouldtalkexhibition.wordpress.com
