Nowzal 88 art marathon
More than 20 Bahraini artists participated in Nowzal 88 art workshop in house no.88, a beautiful traditional Bahraini home in Muharraq.
Spearheaded by Bahraini artist Lobna Amin, Nowzal 88 is about the coming-together of the members of the Bahrain Art Society and Bahrain Contemporary Art Centre in the society-building exercise while inculcating a sense of social responsibility. It’s about drawing on the resources of the artistic community and at the same time giving back.

According to Lobna,
“professional and amateur artists were invited to participate in the two week-long art marathon working on location and in full view of the public. They welcome the opportunity to expose the community to art in a complete unique way. Some do painting and others do sculpting. It’s quite a variety that we’re presenting.”
“As artists, we are always looking for inspiration everywhere and this house has so much energy because art is something that has always been here. Typically artists develop their concepts in solitude and Nowzal 88 offers a chance for us to develop ideas in a community of like-minded artists” she added.

The successful workshop culminated in an exhibition in House 88 attended by the Minister of Culture, HE Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, VIPs, art collectors and art enthusiasts. They had the opportunity to view and purchase the freshly created artworks and part of the proceeds were donated to the Bahrain Cancer Society.
