In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Haunch of Venison would like to extend sympathy to all the members of our community who have been affected by the storm – the galleries who, like us, sustained significant damage, the artists who lost work and archives in the flood, and all those whose homes and lives were impacted by the devastating effects of the storm. We are confident that the art community will come together to rebuild and will emerge more committed than ever to providing a valuable contribution to the unique cultural landscape of New York.
Haunch of Venison, like virtually every Chelsea gallery, experienced significant flooding from the storm surge and had to postpone our opening of Günther Uecker’s Violations-Connections. We, along with many other galleries, have been hard at work making essential repairs to the space and will reopen to the public next week. The Uecker exhibition, his first show of new work in New York since 1966, will open with a reception for the artist on November 12th from 6 to 8pm. All are welcome.
