Arabian Wings to participate in the world’s largest painting

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. More than 365 artists from around the world are going to take on the challenge of creating the world’s largest painting in Morocco from the 29th June until 7th July 2013.

The programme is being organized by the Moroccan Abda Society of Art and Culture under the auspices of the Moroccan King Mohammed the Sixth, the Moroccan Ministry of Culture and Information and the Ministry of Heritage.

The opening of the event will take place at the Marrakesh Conference Centre on 29th June and attended by artists from 26 countries, which are going to participate in various conferences designed to encourage brain storming the sphere of art and culture. .

Dr. Mohammed Bandouri, Director of the Abda Society of Art and Culture, as well as art dignitaries, diplomats, representatives of ministries and authorities and the artists, will be part of the occasion.

The aim is to create a platform where experiences, ideas and thoughts on cultural aspect are interchanged, as well as to learn different techniques to be applied when painting the world’s largest painting in Marrakesh on a silk cloth.

The slogan for this project is “Lets paint a green future” for the youth and environment, and it is expected that the painting will enter the Guinness Book of World Records.

Ten Saudi artists have been selected, as the pride of the Saudi Arabian nation to participate in achieving this record under the sponsorship of Arabian Wings and in partnership with the Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives (ALJCI).

Mohammed Bahrawi, Owner and Founder of Arabian Wings said:

This 10-day educational and cultural residency exchange program in Morocco offers a great opportunity for Saudi artists to learn and exchange experiences and share different artistic cultures with globally renowned artists.”

“Creating the world’s largest painting under the slogan Green Future will be great effort and Arabian Wings are happy to assist sponsoring this event with full support from our artists, which will bring their opinions, experience, art techniques and other knowledge to this endeavour. This will be the first event of its kind for Saudi artists, where they will not only get a chance to meet other professional artists but to also share their point of views and experiences, bound to make a difference,” he added. 

Bahrawi highlighted that this programme will also give Saudi artists an understanding of how such projects are executed and help them to develop ideas to try and produce the largest painting in Saudi Arabia in the future.

The length of the Moroccan painting will be 1000 metres, we expect artists to make the Saudi painting even longer than this. The other aim of the current event is to spread awareness on creating a healthy environment and awareness on youth care. As the Moroccan King relayed his wish that we should take care of the youth and environment for future generations,” said Bahrawi. 

The Moroccan government will also launch a book on the participant artists with their biographies. The ten artists who are going to participate in this historical event are Mohammed Bahrawi, Najla’a Felemban, Saud Mahjob, Mohammed Mahjob, Mohammed Hyader, Nahar Marzooq, Ayman Hafiz, Mona Sumbul, Saud Khan, Khalid bin Affif and Rashid al Sha’ashae.
