He was born in Spytkowice, near Oswiecim. He studied painting and
graphics at Cracow’s Art Academy in 1961-1968 and at Ecole Nationale
Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, 1967. He graduated from prof.
Hanna Rudzka-Cybisowska’s Painting Division in 1968. He is a professor
at Arts Academy in Cracow. He deals with painting, graphics and electronic media. He organised more than 60 exhibitions in Poland as well as abroad. He took part in hundreds of collective exhibitions, international, national and abroad. He got numerous awards, especially for his graphics works presented at international and all-Poland shows. In 2003 he was awarded with a Witold Wojtkiewicz prize for his painting exhibition entitled ‘Obiekty geometryczne-retrospekcja’
(Geometrical objects-retrospection) in Sarmach Gallery. His works are in many museums: National Museum in Cracow, Warsaw, museums in Szczecin, Radom, Chelm, Lublin, Museum of Architecture in Wroclaw, Leon Wyczólkowski’s Museum in Bydgoszcz; Victoria and
Albert Museum in London, Albertin’s Museum in Vienna, Portland Art Museum in Oregon, Stadt Museum Gelsenkirchen, Museum in Bochum or Mondrian Museum in Amersfoort. For many years he has been a member of ZPAP (Society of Polish Artists), and a member of ‘Grupa Krakowska’ (Cracow’s group) and he has also been a curator and a juryman at many exhibitions and competitions in Poland as well as abroad.
