Winner of third RAN Annual Graphic Arts Competition 2016 artBahrain January 30, 2017 news Rafa Nasiri Award for Printmaking is honoured to announce the final results of the third Annual Graphic Arts Competition 2016. The respected members of the jury are: Dia Azzawi, painter and printmaker Ziad Dalloul, painter and printmaker Modhir Ahmed, Painter and printmaker The 2016 nominated winner has been selected from numerous applications received until December 31, 2015, submitted by young Arab artists from Egypt, Tunisia and Iraq. The prize of $1000 goes to: Artist Mohammad Nabil from Egypt The Award was granted for the aesthetic qualities, creativity and thematic images rendered in Nabil’s series of abstract untitled works in relief printing. Nabil’s images reect the artist’s technical skills in rendering his composed subject stemming from his visual research. The series of linocuts reveal his command on creating an interplay of complex geometric surfaces designed within the surrounding space in black and white involving greyish shades. The meticulous rendering of his forms reect his mastery as much as his thorough contemplation on cosmic like structure intervened by essential light. The jury members would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to all the artists who took part in this year’s competition, and congratulate the winner who will receive this award in a special event to be held in Amman where his art works will be showcased. “It is our honour to share in these dening moments of achievement for our nation’s promising artists and to elevate their artistic talent on the local and regional levels.
