Umaima Rashad: Murdering Innocence artBahrain March 30, 2016 Diary RafaNasiri Award for Printmaking presents a solo exhibition by Egyptian artist Umaima Rashad Umaima Rashad holds B.A. degree in Graphic Arts from Al-Minya University (2004); preliminary M.A. in History of Art from Hulwan University (20013). Took part in many group exhibitions in Egypt (2003-2015). A winner of a graphic award from the Society of Art Lovers, Egypt. her works are among the collection of Egypt Modern Art Museum. Umaima is the recipient of the 2nd edition of RafaNasiri Award for Printmaking, granted for the aesthetic qualities, creativity and thematic images rendered in her series of works presented reflect her own vision. The exhibition entitled “Murdering Innocence” is a series of etchings on zinc reveal the artist’s dramatic and sensitive treatment of images based on and inspired by her local environments. The jury members would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to all the artists who took part in this year competition. “It is our honour to share in these defining moments of achievement for our nation’s promising artists and to elevate their artistic talent on the local and regional levels. Founded in 2014, the Awards program’s initiative is to foster their creativity and talent through recognition and scholarships.
